The swans were smarter!

Last night we stayed just out of Inverell at a free camp called ‘Swan Creek’. It was just sooooooooo cold there the swans had chosen to stay somewhere else! When we visited the Snowy Mountains in May the overnight temperature got to –3 degrees in Thredbo and I thought that this was the coldest night we were going to be camping in. But no! Last night got down to a chilly –7.1 degrees.

This was just so unfathomably cold in a canvas walled caravan, and even though we rugged up with multiple sleeping bags and blankets (and in my case thermal underwear) the cold still found it’s way in. Trevor and I were giggling when we went to bed because we couldn’t remember being anywhere colder before. Our subzero temperature experiences overseas have all involved central heating!

By 5am there were four in the bed, all hoping to get some shared heat but it wasn’t until about 7 am when the early morning sun shone through that we started to feel our fingers again.
